An encounter between four breakdancers and one standing dancer.
One woman stands alone. Preoccupied by her quest for the heights, she doesn’t immediately see four other women living in a non-vertical world. She first glimpses their feet. They take off and come to light in the heights, where only heads are found. And then she gradually discovers the breakers’ universe : a very low space, close to the ground, where feet share contact points with other body parts. Their feet want to get higher, want to feel weightlessness for a second and the crazy desire to transcend gravity, to taste instants of freedom and spinning. This is also about a more reasonable division of tasks between hands and feet. Sometimes the head takes the lower space, and at last takes over the central and principal contact points : the feet gain more liberty. For the breakers, it is a matter of convincing the “standing dancer” to approach the ground, an emancipation for the two-footed, for the dancer... for Women.
A way of being a bit less head-in-the-air.
Every encounter deserves an exchange : the passionate breakers discover the pleasure and charm of a fluid sternum ; their light and sensitive arms are happy to take back more sensual and less painful commitments. In a synchronized mood, in the pleasure of dancing together, the formation of empathy requires an effort from each dancer in order to become lost within united movement. This effort is a source of positive energy that creates the possibility of a feminine hip-hop dance perspective.
